ARCHOS seems to be on a launch spree. Just recently, the French phone maker announced its Helium Android phones followed by 50 Saphir. Now company has announced a selfie phone called the Archos 55 Diamond Selfie.
The smartphone packs in 5.5-Inch IPS Full Lamination display with Dragntrail scratch resistant glass. The screen has 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and supports multi-touch. The back side of the phone is scratch resistant with metal details.
The Archos 55 Diamond Selfie packs in an 8MP front facing camera with Screen flash. As the name suggests, the phone is ideally aimed at Selfie lovers. On the back is 16MP main Auto Focus snapper with LED Flash and allows 1080p video recording.
It has unique ChromaFlash feature that takes two distinctive photo, one with flash and one without. The final image will include brightness from the photo with flash and color accuracy from the other. It also comes with OptiZoom where objects are tracked and locked for an automatic zoom. The UbiFocus takes five different images at different focal points (when camera AF is dis-activated), process and combines them to selectively focus on foreground or back ground part of an image.
The smartphone is powered by 1.4GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 MSM8937 Cortex-A53 processor with Adreno 505 GPU. It has 4GB RAM, 64GB storage ROM and allows further expansion up to 128GB using MicroSD card. It also comes bundled with G-Sensor, Proximity and Light sensors.
The Archos 55 Diamond selfie specs also include 3000 mAh Li-Ion non removable battery. The phone measures 155 x 76.6 x 7.7 mm and weighs 184 grams. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS out of the box. Inside is Dual SIM Slots (micro + normal) and supports LTE (Bands 800 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600 MHz). Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth V4.0, MicroUSB V2.0, USB OTG, GPS, FM Radio, 35.. Audio Jack etc.
The Archos 55 Diamond Selfie price is set at €199.99 (US$ 222 approx.) and will be available in September. The company will also release a lite variant with 3GB RAM / 16GB Storage, that will carry price-tag of €169.99 (US$ 188 approx.). All these latest Archos phones will be showcased at IFA 2016 event.
