ASUS ROG Phone with 6-inch FHD+ display, SD845 announced

ASUS has announced its latest flagship gaming phone called ASUS ROG (ZS600KL). It was announced at Computex 2018 event in Taiwan.
The device measures 158.83 x 76.16 x 8.65 mm and weighs 200 grams. It has water-resistant body and houses Dual Nano SIM slots. The handset sports dedicated ultrasonic buttons, of which two are placed at the left edge and one at bottom right edge. Each of them can be configured for additional macro’s or functions (including non gaming functions like quick launch).
The ASUS ROG gaming phone features in new GameCool system with improved heat dispersion. It has 3D vapor chamber and copper heat spreader that efficiently transfers heat away from SoC and in to body. Aesthetically, phones logo at the back glows according the color configured by user. It can be static, breathing, strobing effects or cycling through the spectrum. Moreover, phone’s RGB illuminations in to five ROG phones wirelessly during squad matches.
Company also introduced AeroActive cooler accessory that connects with the smartphone using custom 48-pin connector. It blows aire over the back to accelerate heat dissipation into surrounding. The Aero Active cooler easily plugs in-to this multi-purpose port. It has USB 3.0 Type-C connector for charger and a 3.5mm Audio Jack for headphone.
The ASUS ROG (ZS600KL) specs include 6-inch 90Hz AMOLED Display with 2160 x 1080 pixels resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. The screen offers DCI-P3 color gamut, 1ms response time, 550nits brightness, 10000:1 contrast ratio and supports Gaming / Mobile HDR. There is latest Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection for added durability.
There is a TwinView Dock which adds second 6-inch AMOLED display with 2160 x 1080 pixels resolution. It can be used by game developers to add functionality of maps, inventory or other info. It can also show other applications for chatting, watching other matches or read up strategies. Moreover, TwinView adds additional cooling, Dual Speakers (with Qualcomm smart amplifier), SD card slot and 6000mAh auxiliary battery.
The ASUS ROG features in 2.96GHz octa-core Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform with Adreno 630 GPU. It has 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and has 128GB / 512GB (UFS 2.1) storage options. The handset comes pre-installed with Android 8.1 Oreo OS with ROG Gaming X Mode UI.
The mobile features in 12MP primary rear camera with LED Flash, 1/2.55-inch Sony IMX363 dual pixel sensor, f/1.8 aperture, 83° field of view, PDAF, 4-axis, 4 stops optical image stabilization, AI Scene Detection and 1.4µm pixel size. There is another 8MP secondary rear camera with 120-degree wide angle lens. At the front side is an 8MP selfie shooter with F/2.0 Aperture.
Other Specifications of ASUS ROG phone include dual-front facing 5-magnet speakers, dual NXP9874 smart Amplifier, Triple microphone with ASUS noise reduction technology, Hi-Res audio, DTS Headphone:X 7.1 virtual surround (headphone) etc. There is a 4000 mAh battery which supports up to 30W Quick Charge 4.0 / PD 3.0 and 10V/3A fast charging.
Connectivity wise, it supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ad, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Dual Band (2.4/5GHz) 2X2 MU-MIMO, Bluetooth V5.0, USB Type-C, NFC, GPS/GLONASS/Beidou and FM Radio. It also houses Accelerometer, e-compass, proximity sensor, Hall sensor, ambient-light sensor, fingerprint sensor, gyroscope, 2 x ultrasonic AirTrigger sensors.
ASUS also introduced WiGi Dock which broadcasts signals to base station that plugs in to Smart TV’s. It also pairs with 3rd part GameVice controller to give console like experience. It works using low latency 802.11ad 60GHz Wi-Fi.
The ASUS ROG Phone will come with AeroActive cooler while other accessories will be sold separately. The handset comes in Black color. The mobile will go on sale some time in Q3 2018. Pricing details were not revealed.
