CAT, a company known for is high-end rugged smartphones has unveiled a new mobile called CAT S75. It is first cellphone to feature MediaTeK’s NTN chip (Non-terrestrial network) for 2-way satellite messaging.

The CAT S75 uses MediaTek MT6825 NTN Chip and comes with Bullitt Satellite Messenger. It has first 3GPP standards-based NTN or Direct-to-Satellite messaging sever for smartphones. Notably, an NTN enabled device is necessary to send / receive messages or SOS assistant request. Additionally, a subscription and a Bullitt Satellite Messenger is required (available in App Store and Play Store. Its subscription starts at €4.99 (US$ 5.29 / Rs. 440 approx.) per month. Flexible or Heavy usage plans also available.

The CAT S75 feature an ingress IP68 and IP69K rating making it sand, dust and dirt resistant. The handset is water proof up to 5meters depth and can survive for 35 minutes. It also complies with MIL-SPEC-810H durability standards and can easily handle low to high temperature differences between -30°c (-22°F) to 75°C (167°F) for up to 24 hours. Additionally, S75 also survives dro test up to 1.8 meters on to steel.

The CAT S75 comes in dimensions of 171.0 x 80.0 x 11.9 mm and weighs about 268 grams. It is powered by Android 12 OS out of the box. Company promises two OS updates and 5 years of security updates. Notably, you get 3 years of quarterly SMRs and further 2 years of Emergency SMRs patches. The handset sports a rear mounted fingerprint sensor and allows USB Type-C audio only.

The phone boasts a 6.6-inch LCD display offering 2400 x 1080 pixels resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio and 120Hz refresh rate. It comes with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection for added durability. Under the hood is an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 930 processor paired with IMG BXM-8-256 GPU. It has 6GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage space. You get option of microSD card slot for further storage expansion as well.

The CAT S75 specs include 8MP front camera with F/2.0 Aperture. At the back side is a combo of 50MP (main, F/1.8) + 8MP (ultra-wide, F/2.2) + 2MP (macro, F/2.4) lenses along with LED Flash. Its worth mentioning that these are waterproof cameras and comes with a dedicated underwater mode.

Inside is a 5000mAh non-removable Lithium-Polymer battery with 15W wired and Qi Wireless charging support. It has support for Satellite 23/255/256, 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Wi-Fi Hotspt, Dual Band (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth V5.3, GPS/GLONASS and USB Type-C.

The CAT S75 price is set at €599 (US$ 634 / Rs. 52,500 approx.) / £549 and is offered with 3-month free trial of the Bullitt Satellite Messenger Essentials service plan (includes up to 30 direct-to-satellite messages per month.). This rugged cellphone is up for pre-order via select operators and retailers across EMEA region.
