Corning Incorporated has unveiled its next generation Corning Gorilla Glass 6, its latest breakthrough in glass technology. Company is saying that it is company’s most durable cover glass to date.
In today’s world, the smart devices are getting thinner, sleeker and sports Gorilla Glass not only at the front but also at back. This is increased the risk of phones getting damaged due to drops.
A study revealed that on an average people drop their phones about seven times a year with most drops occurring at height of 1 meter or bellow. Considering the statistics, Corning scientists have developed and engineered an entirely new material to address multiple drops.
During lab test, Corning Gorilla Glass 6 managed to survive 15 drops from 1 meter on to rough surfaces. This is twice better than its predecessor. Moreover, it also offers enhanced wireless charging, large screen sizes with smaller bezels, scratch resistance, touch sensitivity, optical clarity, customization through printed glass backs etc.
