If your thinking of Nexus phones, they just run on Stock Android OS and are manufactured by different phone makers. The latest report from the telegraph claims that Google will manufacture its own smartphones.
Google’s open source Android operating system is widely used by phone makers. Statistically speaking, 4 out of 5 smartphones runs on Android OS.
This upcoming phone from Google will be designed, manufactured and sold by company itself and will be responsible for all facets of production. OS updates will be released faster than any other Android Phones.
Apple does the same thing with iPhones. It manufactures its very own hardware and software, thus giving themselves ability to optimize phones for performance and battery life. Google is expected to do the same with its upcoming phones.
Google’s first branded phone is expected to go on sale later this year. Its Nexus brand will stay alive as well.
