Honor has a new smartphone in its Play series lineup called Honor Play 40 Plus 5G. It went official in China and comes in Xianxia Purple, Titanium Silver, Charm Sea Blue and Magic Night Black colors.

Honor Play 40 Plus specs and features

It is a 5G cell phone with dual Nano SIM slots. It is powered by Android 12 based Magic UI 6.1 out of the box.

The device itself measures 167.48 x 76.85 x 8.27 mm and weighs about 196 grams (including battery). It comes with a side mounted fingerprint sensor for biometrics.

The Play 40 Plus 5G specs include 6.74-inch IPS LCD display offering 1600 x 720 pixels HD+ resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, 90Hz refresh rate and supports 10-point multi-touch. It has 90.07% screen-to-body ratio.

Under the hood is an octa-core (2.2GHz A76 x 2 + 2GHz A55 x 6) MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor with Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. Depending on model, the smartphone is offered with 6GB or 8GB RAM (+5GB virtual RAM) with 128GB or 256GB storage space.

The Honor Play 40+ feature a dual camera setup at back with monochromatic temperature flash. It has 50MP main camera with F/1.8 Aperture (up to 10x digital zoom, 1080p video recording), coupled with 2MP depth camera with F/2.4 Aperture. At the front side is a 5MP selfie camera with F/2.2 Aperture and 2D face recognition support.

The Play 40 Plus houses a 6000mAh (typical) / 5900mAh (minimum) battery and supports 22.5W super fast charging. It is said to offer up to 23 hours of video playback on a full charge.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Dual Band (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth V5.1, USB Type-C, GPS/GLONASS/Beidou and 3.5mm audio jack.
