Huawei has just announced its latest foldable smartphone called Mate X2. It has new hinge made out of steel and fiber and uses magnetron nano-optical film to ensure minimum crease.
The hinge on Mate X2 can withstand more than 2100MPa pressure. The right and left halves are wedge-shaped for extra edge. For authentication and security, this foldable cellphone houses side mounted fingerprint sensor.
When folded, the Huawei Mate X2 measures 161.8 x 74.6 x 4.4 ~ 8.2 mm however when you unfold it, the device measures 161.8 x 145.6 x 13. 6 ~ 14.7 mm. The total weight of mobile is 295 grams (including battery).
The smartphone features in an 8-inch internal flexible OLED display with 2480 x 2200 pixels resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, 180Hz touch sampling rate and 413ppi pixel density. There is a 6.45-inch flexible OLED display with 2700 x 1160 pixels resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate and 456ppi pixel density.
The Huawei Mate X2 specs include Octa-core (3.13GHz A77 x 1 + 2.54GHz A77 x 3 + 2.05GHz A55 x 4) Huawei Kirin 9000 5G processor with ARM Mali-G78 MP24 GPU and Dual Big + Tiny core NPU. The SoC is paired with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and comes in 256GB / 512GB storage options. It has NM Card support for further expansion up to 256GB.
The smartphone runs on Android 10 based EMUI 11. Huawei will release its HarmonyOS in April for this handset. The Mate X2 feature a 16MP wide-angle front camera with F/2.2 Aperture. At the back side are quad-cameras with LED Flash. These include 50MP (wide-angle, F/1.9, OIS) + 16MP (ultra-wide, F/2.2, 2.5cm macro) + 12MP (telephoto, F/2.4, OIS, 3x optical) + 8MP (Periscope, 10X optical, 100x digital zoom, F/4.4, OIS) shooters.
The Huawei Mate X2 houses 4500mAh (two 2250mAH) battery with 55W SuperCharge fast charging support. Inside are Hybrid Dual Nano SIM slots with 5G (SA/NSA) / Dual 4G VoLTE support. There are dual speakers with Huawei Histen sound for loud audio.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Dual band (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth V5.2 LE, GPS(L1+L5)/GLONASS/Beidou/Galileo/Navic, USB 3.1 Type-C (Gen1) and NFC. Its sensor lineup include Gravity, Infrared, Hall, barometer, Gyro, Compass, Ambient Light, Proximity, Camera laser focus and Color temperature sensors.
The Huawei Mate X2 colour options include Ice Crystal Blue, Ice Crystal Powder, White Glaze and Bright Black shades. It will go on sale in China from February 25th.
