Lenovo Moto Z Play launched at IFA 2016 for US$ 499, supports Moto Mods

Lenovo has launched its latest Moto phone at IFA 2016 dubbed as Moto Z Play. It has modular design and seems to be younger cousin of Moto Z.
The phone was already certified by TENAA in China earlier this month. It also made an appearance in leaked shots earlier and even showed of its camera.
The Moto Z Play comes with Moto Mods and features in 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display with 403ppi pixel density. It has 2GHz octa-core Qulcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC powering the phone with Adreno 506 GPU and 3GB RAM.
The phone has internal storage space of 32GB (about 24GB is user available, expandable up to 2TB) and is fueled by 3510 mAh battery and supports Turbo Charging as well. The battery is said to offer 36 hours of standby and gives about 10 hours of usage in just 15 minutes of charging.

The Moto Z Play specs include 5MP front snapper for selfies LED flash and wide angle lens. On the back is 16MP camera on the back with dual-tone LED Flash, F/2.0 Aperture, Laser AF, PDAF, 1.3micron pixels and 1080p video recording capabilities.

Adding to this unique approach for modular phones, Motorola has introduced Hasselblad True Zoom Moto Mod. It features in a 12MP BSI CMOS with 1/2.3-Inch sensor, 1.55 micron pixel size , xenon flash, offers 10x optical zoom and ability to shoot in raw images.

It has F/3.5 – 6.5Aperture,  4.5 – 45 mm focal length and comes with 2 microphones. The Hasselblad True Zoom Moto Mod has dimensions of 152.3 x 72.9 x 9 – 15.1 mm and weighs 145 grams. It comes with OIS and EIS and has ISO equivalent Auto / 100 / 200 / 400 / 800 / 1600 / 3200.
The mod is priced at US$ 299 (€299 in Europe) and will be available in September.  It will be up for pre-sale from September 8. Users can get it for US$ 249.99 at Verizon from September 15th.

Apart from Hasselblad True Zoom Moto Mod, the phone is also compatible with JBL SoundBoost, Insta-Share Projector, Incipio OffGrid Power Pack (adds 2200 mAh battery) and Style Shells.
The mobile measures 156.4 x 76.4 x 6.99 mm and weighs 165 grams. It runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS out of the box and houses Single / Dual SIM slots (nano + micro). Fingerprint sensor is also present.
Connectivity options include 4G LTE,  Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Dual Band (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth V4.0, USB Type-C,  FM Radio
The Lenovo Moto Z Play is priced at US$ 499  and is expected to go on sale in September 2016. The smartphone will be priced at €499 in Europe. It will be available from Verizon as Moto Z Play Droid Edition and will cost US$ 408 ($17 / month) and will be available from September 8th. The Moto Z Play comes in White, Black, Black Slate, Silver, Sugar White and Fine Gold colors.
