LG has announced its latest smartphone called the V20 as expected. It is a rugged smartphone made from light weight Aluminum AL6013 alloy (used in aircraft and boats). The top and booth is made from Silicone Poly-carbonate (Si-PC) and meets requirements of USB Military Standard MIL-STD 810G (sustain drops from up to 1.2 meters).
The LG V20 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat OS with LG UX 5.0+ out of the box. Moreover, it the first smartphone to use Google’s In Apps. It helps users find in content from in-built apps, contacts, emails, texts, photos etc. The smartphone also comes equipped with 32-bit Hi-Fi ESS SABRE ES9218 Quad DAC for optimum sound. The DAC is said to minimize ambient noise by up to 50% and supports lossless music formats like FLAC, DSD, AIFF and ALAC. It also includes B&O Audio and High AOP Mic.
The LG V20 specs include 5.7-Inch IPS Quantum display with 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution, 513ppi pixel density and supports multi-touch. It also has a secondary 2.1-Inch IPS Quantum display just above main display. It has 160 x 1040 pixels resolution and 513ppi pixel density.
Under the hood is quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with Adreno 530 GPU. It has 4GB LPDDR3 RAM, 64GB UFS 2.0 storage ROM and allows further expansion up to 2TB using MicroSD card.
The phone has dimensions of 159.7 x 78.1 x 7.6 mm and weighs 173 grams. It has fingerprint sensor on the back side for added security.The mobile is equipped with 3200 mAh removable battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging.
The LG V20 Features dual camera setup on the back. It’s first rear camera is of 16MP and includes F/1.8 aperture, Laser AF, PDAF, 75-degree lens, OIS 2.0, dual -ton LED Flash and 4K video recording support. The second camera on back is of 8MP and is equipped with 135-degree lens and F/2.4 aperture. On the front side sits a 5MP selfie snapper with 120-degree wide angle lens and F/1.9 aperture.
This smartphone also allows Hi-Fi Video recording. It uses Low Cut Filter (LCF) and Limter (LMT) to remove unwanted background noise and sets recording distance. It also captures audio using 24-bit / 48 kHz Linear Pulse Code Modulation (LPCM).
In terms of connectivity, this mobile phone has 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Dual Band (2.4/5GHz)< Bluetooth V4.2 LE, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C etc.
LG V20 will be available in Titan, Pink and Silver color options. It will start rolling out from this month starting from Korea. Exact pricing details were not revealed.
