Xiaomi recently started rolling out MIUI 8 and now, Chinese company is working MIUI 9. The new skin is based on Android 7.0 Nougat OS.
A screenshot has surfaced on Weibo with MIUI 9 tag. It also reveals that the said version running on the particular device is MIUI9 6.9.23.
This story does not end here. Xiaomi has confirmed the MIUI9 news. Xiaomi took an extra step confirming a list of phones that will get Android 7.0 Nougat OTA update.

There is a strong possibility that Android 7.0 updates will start rolling out in devices in about 6 months, considering the time span for MIUI8 release. However, Xiaomi has been working hard to meet the deadline and is targeting release of MIUI 9 by late December 2016 or early January 2017.
