MediaTek Dimensity 1000 5G SoC for smartphones announced

MediaTek has announced its new 5G SoC lineup for smartphones. The includes Dimensity 1000 5G chipset and fully integrates power-efficient 5G on the chipset.

The chipset is powerful enough to fetch 480,000 points at AnTuTu and 12,096 points on GeekBench 4.2. This makes it at par with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ benchmarks.

The MediaTek Dimensity 1000 5G SoC features in octa-cores (2.6GHz A77 x 4 + 2GHz A55 x 4) CPU coupled with Mali-G77 GPU. It has 3rd Generation 5-core APU and supports up to 16GB 4-channel LPDDRx memory.

Its 4G modem supports TDD/FDD, 4×4 MIMO, 256 QAM, WCDMA, TS-SCDMA, CDMA 1X, EV-DO, GSM and EDGE. The SoC’s onboard 5G modem handels 3GGP Rel. 4.7Gbps download, 2.5Gbps upload via sub-6GHz frequencies. It hs support for NR TDD / NR FDD bands and *SA / NSA. Notably, mmWave is not supported

The MediaTek Dimensity 1000 can handle display at 90Hz with up to QHD+ resolution and comes DisplayPort support as well. It has 5-core ISP which takes up to 80MP pics @ 24 shots per second. It can also handle 32MP + 16MP dual shooters with 4K video recording capabilities at 60fps. It supports H.265 / H.265, VP9 / AV1 and Multi-frame Video HDR as well.

The SoC supports Dual SIM, 5G + 5G, 4G + 5GB and 5G + 4G. Additionally, there is Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax 2×2), Bluetooth V5.1, Dual Band (L1 + L5) GNSS, GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo, GZSS, NaviC etc.

Smartphones powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1000 5G SoC will first land in China and other Asian markets next year. Devices with this SoC will also launch in United States in H2 2020.
