MediaTek Helio G80 octa-core SoC announced, sports HyperEngine Game Technology

MediaTek has announced its new octa-core SoC called MediaTek Helio G80. It caters to budget and mid-range smartphones and packs in MediaTek’s HyperEngine Game technology for optimum gaming performance.

The HyperEngine gaming technology features in Intelligent Speed Uplift for Rapid game play and optimum Resource Management Engine for Better and longer gameplay.

The MediaTek Helio G80 is based on TSMC 12nm process. It has Octa-Cores consisting of 2GHz Cortex-A75 x 2 + 1.8GHz Cortex-A55 x 6 cores. It supports LPDDR3 (933MHz) up to 4GB and LPDDR4X RAM (1800MHz) up to 8GB coupled with eMMC 5.1 storage space.

Its integrated modem offers Cat.7 DL and Cat.13 UL speeds and 4G Carrier Aggregation. It also supports CDMA2000 1x/EVDO Rev. A (SRLTE), 4G FDD / TDD, Dual 4G VoLTE (DSDS), HSPA +, DL/UL CA, TAS 2.0, HPUE, IMS (VoLTE\ViLTE\WoWi-Fi), eMBMS and Band 71.

The MediaTek Helio G80 supports displays with up to 2520 x 1080 pixels Full HD+ resolution with 60Hz refresh rate and 21:9 aspect ratio. There is a ARM Mali-G52 2EEMC2 GPU clocked at 950MHz. There is an Intelligent Voice on Wakeup (VoW) functionality as well.

Talking about options, the SoC can handle 48MP single or 16MP + 16MP dual shooters. It has 2X ISP with Rolling Shutter Compensation (RSC) engine, Hardware Warping Engine (EIS), MEMA 3DNR, Multi-Frame noise reduction and Face Unlock.

In terms of connectivity, you get Integrated Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Dual Band (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth V5.0, GPS/GLONASS/Beidou/Galileo and FM Radio.

Smartphones powered by MediaTek Helio G80 SoC will be out later this year.
