MediaTek first deca-core SoC (System on Chip) Helio X20 was seen early last year. It was built using 20nm process and used Tri-cluster architecture. Later on MediaTek announced its overclocked variant dubbed as Helio X25.
Now, there are reports saying that MediaTek has unveiled Helio X30 SoC in Chine. It is successor to Helio X20 / X25 and is built using 10nm FinFET architecture. It has total of 10 cores consisting of four Cortex A73 cores clocked at 2.8GHz, four Cortex A53 cores at 2.2GHz and two Cortex A35 cores clocked at speeds of 2GHz.
Moreover, the Helio X30 supports up to 8GB LPDDR4 RAM (1600MHz) and UFS 2.1 standards of storage. It is VR ready comes with powerful quad-core PowerVR 7XT GPU.
The SoC can support cameras up to 40MP and capture videos as high as 24MP. A 16MP snapper with Helio X30 SoC can take video at 60 Fps, 8MP at 120 Fps. It also includes modem with support for three carrier aggregation (3CA) which combines three bands and supports Cat. 12 LTE.
While it is to early for MediaTek to release Helio X30 SoC to phone makers, we expect to see smartphones powered by X30 in Q2 of 2017.
