MediaTek i700 IoT chipset for smart homes, AR applications unveiled

MediaTek has unveiled its new IoT chipset called the i700. It is a mix of incredibly powerful hardware in highly integrated, high efficiency platform.

The MediaTek i700 features in an octa-core architecture consisting of two ARM Cortex-A75 processors operating at 2.2GHz and Hexa Cortex-A55 processors operating at up to 2GHZ (2.2GHz A75 x 2 + 2GHz A55 x 6).

The SoC packs in MediaTek’s CorePilot technology, which ensures that its eight core optimally configures computing resources for efficiency, best performance and power consumption.

It has IMG PowerVR GM 9446 GPU clocked at 970MHz. It has MediaTek APU 2.0 – A dual-core AI processor plus AI Accelerator with AI face detection engine which offers five times the performance than its predecessor.

The MediaTek i700 also supports MediaTek’s NeuroPilot SDK, which is fully compatible with Google’s Nueural Networks API (Android NNAPI) within Android OS.

The i700 IoT chipset can handle up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM (1866MHz) and comes with Carrier Aggregation (CA), CDMA2000 1x/EVDO Rev, A (SRLTE), FDD/TDD LTE and HSPA+ support for mobile data.

The MediaTek i700 can handle up to 32MP single camera with up to 30fps or dual-camera of 24MP and 16MP shooters. It has in-built in depth sensing engine as well. Its efficient triple ISP design can handle 14-bit RAW and 10-bit YUV capture for high detail imagery.

Connectivity options includes 2×2 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Dual Band (2.4/5GHz) and Low-Power Bluetooth V5.0, 4G LTE up to Cat 12 with 4×4 MIMO.

First devices powered by MediaTek i700 will come out in 2020.
