Microsoft unveils Surface Laptop SE with Windows 11 SE for Education

Microsoft has officially announced Surface Laptop SE. Company has introduced Windows 11 SE OS along side, which is specially designed for students.

The Windows 11 SE is meant for low-cost devices. The OS is cut-down version of Windows 11 and is optimized to deliver enhanced educational experience.

It meets all the requirements of K-8 students, removes distraction and allows only IT Administrators to install apps on computer. The Windows 11 Pro SE version of OS adds ability for students to install end user apps on device.

Microsoft Surface Laptop SE specifications and features

It is an entry-level laptop with dimensions of 283.7 x 193.05 x 17.85 mm and weighs 1112.4 grams. This particular laptop runs on Windows 11 SE and has Microsoft 365 for Education pre-installed.

The Surface Laptop SE specs include 11.6-inch TFT LCD display with 1366 x 768 pixels resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio. It has two configurations. Depending on model, it has dual-core Intel Celeron N4020 Processor OR quad-core Intel Celeron N4120 processor with Intel UHD Graphics 600.

The laptop has 4GB / 8GB DDR4 RAM options and 64GB / 128GB eMMC storage space. It includes TPM 2.0 chip for enterprise level security. The device offers up to 16 hours of battery life on typical usage.

The Microsoft Surface Laptop SE feature a 1MP front camera with up to 720p video recording. It single digital microphone, 2W stereo speakers and 3.5mm audio jack. The laptop supports Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth V5.0 LE, USB Type-C, USB-A and Barrel Type DC connector.

Price and availability

The Surface SE laptop price starts at $249.99 (Rs. 18,560 approx.). It will sell via authorized Surface Education resellers later this year.
