HMD Global has officially announced its first XR Series Rugged Smartphone called Nokia XR20. It has a sleek casing and comes with IP68 water and dust resistant rating.
The handset also sports MIL-STD-810H durability rating and easily survive drops of 1.5 meters and in water depths of 1.5 meter for 30 minutes. Nokia says that XR20 is durable enough to survive even harsher conditions.
The Nokia XR20 specs include 6.67-inch multi-touch display offering 2400 x 1080 pixels resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio and offers up to 550nits of brightness. Its screen also detects touch from wet hands and gloves. Additionally, the cellphone comes with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection on top.
The XR20 measures 171.64 x 81.5 x 9.1 mm and houses Hybrid Dual Nano SIM slots. It has support for 5G (several bands) and dual 4G VoLTE. For biometrics, the mobile houses a fingerprint sensor at a side. It also includes a special customizable button on top and a dedicated Google Assistant key at side.
Powering inside this mobile phone is an octa-core Snapdragon 480 mobile platform and Adreno 619 GPU. The Nokia XR20 comes in options of 4GB LPDDR4X RAM with 64GB UFS 2.1 storage and 6GB LPDDR4X RAM with 128GB UFS 2.1 storage space. MicroSD Card up to 512GB are supported.
The Nokia XR20 feature an 8MP front facing camera with F/2.0 Aperture, which is placed inside a punch hole. At the back side are dual cameras with dual LED Flash. It has 48MP main with ZEISS Optics and F/1.79 Aperture. There is a second 13MP camera with 123-degree ultra-wide angle lens, F/2.4 Aperture and OZO Audio. The device has new SpeedWarp mode with super-stabilization.
The device includes extra loud stereo speakers (96dB) and houses a 4630mAh (typical) battery capacity. It has 18W wired charging and 15W Qi wireless charging support. The mobile runs on Android 11 OS out of the box.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Dual Band (2.4/5GHz) 2×2 MIMO, Bluetooth V5.1, USB Type-C, GPS/GLONASS/Beidou/QZSS/NavIC and 3.5mm audio jack.

The Nokia XR20 color options include include Granite and Ultra Blue shades. The handset will roll out in USA from August 24th. It is already rolling out in UK and Europe.
