NVIDIA Jetson TX2 platform for drones, robots and more announced

NVIDIA has announced Jetson TX2 AI supercomputer on a module at AI meetup in San Francisco. Company also launched JetPack 3.0AI SDK.
It offers twice as performance than Jetson TX1 or can offer twice the power efficiency, using less than 7.5 watts of power.
The Jetson TX2  is an AI platform specially aimed at drones, robots, smart cameras and embedded devices. It can also be used for Image, Navigation and Speech recognition.
It features in an integrated 256-core NVIDIA Pascal GPU and a hexa-core ARMv8 64-bit CPU. The module has size of 50 x 87mm and weighs 85 grams.

The Jetson TX2  Developer Kit is up for pre-order with a tag of $599 in United states and Europe. It will begin shipping from March 14th. It will be available for $399 (in quantities of 1000 or more) in second quarter.
Deepu Talla, vice president and general manager of the Tegra business at NVIDIA, said:

Jetson TX2 brings powerful AI capabilities at the edge, making possible a new class of intelligent machines. These devices will enable intelligent video analytics that keep our cities smarter and safer, new kinds of robots that optimize manufacturing, and new collaboration that makes long-distance work more efficient.
We’re seeing a lot of this inference not just in the cloud, but also moving towards the edge, whether it’s a robot, or a drone, or a security camera,And Jetson is our platform for doing inference and AI computing at the edge.
