NVIDIA SHIELD tablet and SHIELD tablet K1 gets Android Nougat based SHIELD Experience 5.0 update

NVIDIA has started rolling out Experience SHIELD Experience update 5.0 for its original SHILED tablet and SHIELD tablet K1. The upgrade is based on Android 7.0 Nougat OS.
The SHIELD Experience update 5.0 brings in new multi-tasking features like split-scree, which allows two applications to run side by side in landscape or portrait mode. It brings in Quick Switch which can be accessed by double tapping the overview button.
It also includes SHIELD Controller (2017) support. With this update, NVIDIA has introduced SHIELD Rewards, an exclusive loyalty program for SHIELD owners.
The SHIELD Experience upgrade 5.0 also comes with improved notifications. It shows multiple notifications from the same app, allows user to reply from within the notification and silence or block the notification.
The update also brings improvements in power consumption in SHIELD Tablet and SHILED Tablet K1. It’s doze on the go is smarter and starts even when the Tablet is carried. New Unicode 9 emojis have been added as well.
There are several usability improvements like Display and font size are adjustable separately, Quick Settings is easily customizable from main menu (tap on ‘Edit’). Users can access top quick settings tiles by downward swiping of lock screen. It also adds new Navigation menu & Suggestions to improve usability and “Clear All” option in overview.
There are several system wide improvements like new Data Saver which can limit access to cellular data for background applications. New JIT compiler improves speed of apps and system updates. It also includes Android Security Patch Level December 1, 2016 update as well.
The SHIELD Experience 5.0 update for SHIELD Tablets is available starting today. US LTE Model will get update once it receives carrier approval.
