OmniVision launches OV12890 PureCel Plus-S Sensor for High-End smarpthones

OmniVision Technologies, known for its advanced imaging solutions, has announced its latest OV12890 camera sensor for high-end smartphones. It makes use of PureCel Plus-S technology to capture full resolution 12 mega pixels images and videos at 45 Fps. It can also take ultra-high resolution 4K2K video at 60 Fps, 1080p ad 240 Fps (via D-PHY and C-PHY interfaces).
The OmniVision OV12890 has 1.55-micron big pixel sensor for flagship smartphones that deliver signal-to-noise (SNR) with faster 12-bit readout architecture. These enhancements enable the sensor to capture ultra-high resolution, high frame rate images and videos with support of Phased Detection Auto Focus (PDAF). The sensor can easily fit into 10 x 10 mm module with z-height of 6 mm.
The OV12890 Sensor is currently available for sampling. It is expected to enter production in Q4, 2016.
