OPPO Air Glass

The Oppo Air Glass is company’s latest Assisted Reality (AR) device. It weighs just about 30 grams, making it lightest monocle wave guide device. Its design itself is very much inspired by wings of cicada.

The Lens on Air Glass boasts a lightweight slim frame with minimalist form factor. The frame houses Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 platform and leverages a micro projector to overlay different information on the glasses.

Its monocular waveguide and a self-developed Spark Micro Projector uses micro-LED tech to project info on 5-Element glass lenses. The projector itself is most compact at just 0.5cc. Regardless of the tiny form factor, the glasses maintains high level of brightness.

The Oppo Air Glass feature in two – 16-level greyscale and 256-level grayscale. It delivers maximum of 1400nis of average brightness. The Oppo AR Glass supports touch, voice and hand motion (when paired with Oppo Watch 2).

It has application support for Weather, Health, Calendar, Navigation or Teleprompter. Oppo has included translation function as well. For now, it supports Mandarin Chinese – English two way translation. The Japanese and Korean languages will be added later.

The Oppo Air Glass will launch sometime in Q1 of 2022 and comes in White and Black frame options. It comes in Silver half-frame and black full-frame.

OPPO MariSilicon X imaging NPU

The MariSilicon X NPU is OPPO’s very one version of imaging NPU. It is based on 6nm manufacturing process.

With this imaging NPU, company intends to improve quality of photos and videos in its future Oppo smartphones. The MariSilicon X will be first seen in upcoming Find X series smartphones that are due for launch in Q1 2022.

The Oppo MariSilicone X has its very own ISP that supports 20-bit, 120dB dynamic range for images and Real-time RAW processing for 4K videos. The AP offers 10 TOPS @ Int8 and leverages several different algorithms to reduce noise, improve details, dynamic range and offer better color reproduction.

The ISP fully utilizes OPPO’s RGBW sensor. It has dedicated tera-bps memory subsystem that allows full usage of computing power without any restrictions. This can reduce copying type between storage and processing units significantly. Moreover, it has dedicated DDR with extra bandwidth of up to 8.5GB/s.

OPPO Retractable camera prototype

Along with AR Glass and MariSilicon X NPU, company has also unveiled its latest Retractable rear camera prototype device.

The device houses a 1/1.56-inch 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor inside a 8.26mm phone thickness. Sadly, the technology is useless in a stagnant position.

The Retractable camera tech allows more distance between sensor and lens. A 50mm equivalent module gives about 2x optical zoom capabilities. It captures more details when compared with a regular telephoto lens.

This new tech offers better signal-to-noise ratio from its zoomed shots. Oppo is planning to introduce retractable camera feature in future devices.
