Panasonic has announced its latest rugged handheld called Toughbook FZ-T1. It comes in 4G LTE and Wi-Fi only variants.
The device is IP68 rated for water and dust resistance. It also complies with MIL-STD-810G and can with stand drops from up to 1.5 meters. It can operate in temperatures ranging from -10 to 50-degree C or more.
The Panasonic Toughbook FZ-T1 is specially aimed at enterprise customers in range of sectors like manufacturing, retail, hospitality, logistics and transportation. The handheld comes with 1D/2D Bar-code reader and sports two buttons (configurable) for left / right hand users.
It has loud speaker that delivers up to 90db sound. There total of three microphones, 2 at the front and 1 at the back. The handheld also offers Enterprise level security (FIPS140-2 level-1 compliant, Built-in ARM TrustZone) and management (COMPASS)
This rugged handheld measures 154 x 75 x 13.1 ~ 17.5 mm and weighs 240 grams. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo OS and is powered by 3200 mAh removable battery, which offers up to 12 hours of continuous data access.
The Panasonic Toughbook FZ-T1 specs include 5-inch anti-reflective display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution and supports 10-point multi-touch. The touch screen also works with gloves and has a special rain mode as well.
Talking about the hardware, there is a 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 (APQ8009) Mobile Platform with Adreno 304 GPU. The SoC is backed by 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory, which is further expandable using MicroSD card.
The handheld features in 8MP rear camera with LED Flash. Connectivity wise, it has optional 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth V4.2 LE and GPS/A-GPS support.
:The Panasonic Toughbook FZ-T1 Wi-Fi variant is priced at £1,142 (US$ 1,520 / 1,03,024 approx.) and will go on sale in August 2018. The Toughbook FZ-T1 4G LTE (voice and data) model will cost £1,214 (US$ 1,615 / 1,09,520 approx.) and will be released in September 2018 in Europe.
