Qualcomm has officially announced its latest flagship chipset called Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 Mobile Platform.
The chipset is beefed up version of Snapdragon 8 Gen1 and provide several enhancements. For starters, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is 10% faster than its predecessor.
It now has prime Cortex-X2 core clocked at 3.2GHz opposed to 3Ghz. It also boasts 30% power efficiency thanks to TSMC’s 4nm process technology.
Additionally, Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 has 10% faster GPU which Qualcomm claims to deliver up to extra 60 minutes of gameplay, yet maintaining 30% GPU power efficiency. Overall efficiency is expected at 15%.
The chipset feature in 7th Gen Qualcomm AI Engine that promises up to 20% better performance per Watt. The soC includes Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RM System and Qualcomm FastConnect 6900.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 will roll out commercially in Q3 2022. It is expected in smartphones from all major OEM’s including ASUS ROG, Black Shark, HONOR, iQOO, Lenovo, Motorola, Nubia, OnePlus, OPPO, OSOM, realme, RedMagic, Redmi, vivo, Xiaomi and ZTE.
