Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and Quick Charge 4.0 announced

Qualcomm has announced its latest Snapdragon 835 SoC. Company has introduced this new chipset in collaboration with Samsung Electronics. Qualcomm has also introduced Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging technology.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 is based on on Samsung’s 10nm FinFET processor. The processor is made using nanomaterials-molecules and atoms that are less than 100nm in size. The materials used is light weight, has higher strength and greater chemical reactivity.
So what’s in for device manufacturers?. The system-on-chip is 1000 times smaller than a strand of hair and boasts a smaller footprint. It takes up less space than its predecessor, allowing manufacturers to deliver slimmer smartphones with support for larger battery’s.

Qualcomm has also announced its new fast charging technology called Quick Charge 4.0. It is USB Type-C and USB Power Delivery (USB PD) compliant. It also supports dual charging and features INOV (Intelligent Negotiation for Optimum Voltage).

If you compare it with Quick Charge 3.0, the 4th iteration is 20% faster or 30% more power efficient. It is said to offer 5 hours worth of battery life with just 5 minutes of charging. The Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 can charge 50% battery in just 15 minutes. To add butter, it is also 5-degrees cooler than previous version.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 will succeed Snapdragon 820/821 processor. It is already in production and will start shipping in commercial devices in first half of 2017. The Quick Charge 4.0 will be available in Q1 or Q2 of 2017.
