ZTE’s Nubia brand has unveiled a new gaming smartphone in China called RedMagic 6R. It comes with an appealing design and brings several changes from RedMagic 6 and RedMagic 6 Pro.
The Nubia Red Magic 6R feature a 6.67-inch AMOLED display which offers 2400 x 1080 pixels FHD+ resolution at 20:9 aspect ratio. Its screen supports 144Hz refresh rate and allows adaptive refresh rate switching between 30Hz / 60Hz / 90Hz / 120Hz /144Hz. It also delivers 360Hz multi-finger touch sampling rate, 770nits of peak brightness and has multi-touch support.
Powering inside RedMagic 6R is an octa-core Snapdragon 888 mobile platform with Adreno 660 GPU. This Nubia gaming smartphone leverages leverages Graphene heat dissipation technology and VC Liquid cooling to keep thermals in check.
The smartphone has measurements of 163.04 x 75.34 x 7.8 mm and weighs 186 grams. It comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor for fast and secure unlocking. The handset boots on Android 11 based Redmagic OS 4.0 out of the box. It comes with 400Hz dual shoulder gaming triggers for enhanced gaming experience.
The RedMagic 6R specs include 6GB / 8GB / 12GB LPDDR5 RAM with 128GB / 256GB UFS 3.1 storage space options (depending on model). Phone’s screen houses a punch hole which has 16MP front facing camera inside with F/1.8 Aperture. At the back side is a quad-camera system consisting of 64MP (main, Sony IMX682) + 8MP (120-degree ultra-wide) + 5MP (macro) + 2MP (depth) snappers and LED Flash.
The Red Magic 6R sports 4200mAh battery inside and supports 55W fast charging. Sadly, global variant of Red Magic6R will support 30W fast charging. There are stereo speakers with Smart PA to ensure optimum audio.
There are dual SIM slots with 5G (SA/NSA) and Dual 4G VoLTE. Other features include Wi-Fi 6E 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, Wi-Fi Hotspot, 2.4GHz+5GHz+6GHz bands support, Bluetooth V5.1, USB Type-C and GPS/GLONASS/Beidou.
Nubia has also unveiled RedMagic 6R Victorious Fighting Buddha Special Edition of the handset. It comes with Black and Yellow finishing and includes similar themes and wallpapers.

The Nubia RedMagic 6R colour options include Black and Silver Shades. The handset will go on sale in China from June 1st. Global roll out is slated in early June as well.
