Samsung Exynos 5 Series 7872 Hexa-Core SoC with Iris sensor announced

Samsung has announced its latest Exynos 7872 Hexa-core processor. It is company’s latest Exynos 5 Series chipset which is based on 14nm FinFET process technology. It is specially aimed at mid-range devices.
The Exynos 7872 features in total of six cores – 2GHZ ARM Cortex-A73 x 2 + 1.6GHz ARM Cortex-A53 x 4. For graphics, it comes bundled with Mali-G71 MP1 GPU. It also supports LPDDR3 Memory, EMMC 5.1 and SD 3.0 storage.
Its modem is capable of delivering Cat7 2CA download speeds of 300Mbps and Cat13 2CA uploads of 150Mbps. It supports CDMA, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA, GSM, FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE.
The Samsung Exynos 7872 chipset can handle displays with up to 1920 x 1200 WUXGA resolutions. The SoC supports up to 21.7MP front and rear cameras. An 8MP Iris camera also works with added support out-focusing photography and dual cameras.
It can easily work with Full HD encoding and decoding at 120fps, HEVC(H.265), H.264 and VP8 (decoding with VP9). Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Dual Band (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth V5.0 and FM Radio. GNSS (GPS/GLONASS/BeiDou/Galileo) is also supported for accurate tracking.
The Meizu M6s, which was announced yesterday comes with Exynos 7872 processor. More Samsung Phones are expected to launch with the chipset in coming months.
Samsung said,

With the addition of powerful CPU, the Exynos 7872 improves the individual single-core performance by two folds, when compared to its predecessor, enabling faster web browsing, app launching and other operations on a smartphone in its class,” said the company.
By combining the information from RGB and monochrome camera, the Exynos 7872 can create out-focus effect to make photographs more visually appealing.
