Samsung Exynos 5100 5G modem announced

Samsung has officially announced world’s first 5G modem called Exynos 5100. It is also company’s first modem to comply with 3GPP standards and packs in most up-to-date standard specifications for 5G New Radio (5G-NR)
The Exynos Modem 5100 is based on 10nm process technology and also supports legacy radio access technologies designed into single chip. It is capable of delivering max download speed of 2Gbps in 5G’s sub-6GHz settings and 6Gbps in mmWave settings.
It offers support for both sub-6GHza and mmWave spectrums specified by 3GPP’s 5G standard along with legacy networks like 2G GSM / CDMA, 3G WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, HSPA and 4G LTE.
The Samsung Exynos Modem 5100 will not only benefit Internet of Things (IoT), Real-time Artificial Intelligence (AI), Ultra-High resolution videos, Holograms and Autonomous driving thanks to its capability of transmitting large-capacity data and real-time low-latency communication.
Moreover, the modem is also offered with radio frequency IC (RFIC), Envelope Tracking (ET) and Power Management IC (PMIC) solutions. Samsung has successfully tested over-the-air (OTA) 5G-NR data call test under wireless environment utilizing a 5G based station and 5G end-user equipment prototype which has Exynos Modem 5100.
The Exynos Modem 5100 will be available to customers by end of 2018. Samsung is also working closely with number of mobile carriers and partners to bring 5G mobile communications to the market.
