Samsung at its Developer Conference 2019 (SDC19) has announced two new laptops called Galaxy Book Flex and Galaxy Book Ion. These are specially aimed at professionals on-the-go and are light weight.
The Galaxy Book Flex and Galaxy Book Ion both come in 13.3-inch and 15.6-inch touch screen displays with 1080p resolution. These will be available in December in select markets. Samsung hasn’t revealed pricing details yet.
Samsung Galaxy Book Flex
The notebook comes in 13.3-inch and 15.6-inch display sizes which is a QLED screen with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution at 16:9 aspect and 10-point multi-touch support.
The 13-inch model has dimensions of 302.6 x 202.9 x 12.9 mm and weighs 1.15 Kg. The 15.6-inch model measures 355 x 227.2 x 14.9 mm and weighs 1.52Kg or 1.57 Kg with Graphics card model. There is a 69.7Wh battery with Wireless Powershare support.
The Galaxy Book Flex specs include 10th Generation Intel Core Processors (Ice Lake) with Intel Iris Plus / Intel UHD Graphics GPU. There is a model with 15.6-inch screen that houses NVIDIA GeForce MX256 GPU (2GB GDDR5).
It has built-in S Pen support and runs on Windows 10 Home / Pro. There is support for Windows 10 Hello and Fingerprint sensor for security. AKG Stereo speakers with Smart Amp enhances its audio.
The Galaxy Book Flex can be configured with up to 16GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 1TB SSD (NVMe) storage along with UFS/MicrSD combo. It has Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+) support, Wi-Fi 802.11ax 2×2, Thunderbolt 3 x 2, Bluetooth V5.0, USB-C and Mic.
Samsung Galaxy Book Ion
The 13.3-inch model measures 305.7 x 199.8 x 12.9 mm with 0.97Kg weight while the 15.6-inch variant has dimensions of 356.1 x 228 x 14.9 mm and weighs 1.19 Kg / 1.26Kg (with Graphics). it has 360-degree hinge which allows one to use it as table or PC. Its magnesium clamshell frame is slime and light weight.
The notebook runs on Windows 10 Home / Pro and comes with Fingerprint sensor and Windows Hello sign in. It has AKG Stereo speakers with Smart Amp as well.
The Samsung Galaxy Book Ion features in 13.3-inch and 15.6-inch displays with 10-point multi-touch support. It has 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution at 16:9 aspect ratio.
Under the hood is 10th Generation Intel Core (comet Lake) processors with Intel UHD Graphics. The 15-inclh model has an additional option for NVIDIA GeForce MX256 Graphics (2GB GDDR5).
The Galaxy Book Ion can handle up to 16GB LPDDR4 RAM + 1 Sodimm (15-inch model). In terms of storage it supports up to 1TB SSD (NVMe), UFS/MicroSD combo. A 69.7Wh battery with Wireless power share is present.
It has Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+), 802.11ax 2×2, USB 3.0 x 2, Thunderbolt 3, Bluetooth V5.0 and HDMI port.
