Cutting their losses, Samsung has already started developing firmware for its upcoming Galaxy S8 smartphone, according to reports.
The Galaxy S8 ROM in development is currently limited to handful of countries, which include US, UK, China, Germany, France, Korea, Italy and Poland. The list is expected to grow once the ROM becomes stable.
This is around the same time as last year, when Samsung kicked off the ROM development process in Galaxy S7.
According to the rumors, Galaxy S8 will come in two variants. One of them is expected with smaller 5.1-inch AMOLED display and 25610 x 1440 pixels resolution. The second version will be a premium phone and could sport a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with 4K (UHD) resolution.
These mobile phones are expected to have Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 SoC or Exynos 8895 SoC, depending on the markets. Dual camera setup is also expected in premium model.
Just recently, Samsung has agreed to buy VIV next-gen AI platform. The S8’s should have ViV Ai assistant as well (will replace S Voice).
Samsung has already scheduled an Unpacked event on Feb 26th, at MWC, where it is said to announce Galaxy S8 smartphones.
