Samsung Galaxy Note7 smartphone came with a big flaw, and that was its exploding batteries. Korean phone maker had issued a recall of these phones and offered replacements. This didn’t turn out well either as the replaced Note7 exploded as well.
Putting an end to the fiasco, Samsung has already stopped the production. To retain its customers, company has also offered exchange and refund schemes for Note7 buyers.
It its homeland South Korea, company has introduced smartphone upgrade program for Note7 users. Those who bought this discontinued phone will have to opted to replace it with Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge will get an opportunity to upgrade with upcoming Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 phones next year.
There is a catch though. This upgrade wont be free. Customers will have to pay half the price of Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge (which ever model they have opted) to qualify for upgrade.
One more thing if you haven’t noticed is that Samsung has indirectly confirmed that it is in fact working on next generation Note Series phone, the NOTE 8.
This info contradicts speculation among Tech Community that Samsung might discontinue its Note Series all-to-gather.
For now, the upgrade program is limited to South Korea. There is now word regarding the availability of this upgrade program in other markets.
