Samsung Portable SSD X5 with Thunderbolt 3 unveiled

Samsung has announced its first NVMe 1 based Solid State Drive called Portable SSD X5. It comes with Thunderbolt 3 and offers 40Gbps bandwidth (4 times of USB 3.13).
The device measures 119 x 63 x 19.7 mm and weighs 150 grams. It has full metal body with non-slip bottom and glossy finishing. It has rugged metal housing with shock resistant internal frame for durability. This portable SSD X5 can withstand drops of up to two meters or 6.6 feet.
The Samsung Portable SSD X5 offers sequential reading speeds of up to 2800 MB/s  and sequential write speeds of up to 2300 MB/s (2100Mb/s in 500GB). It comes in 500GB / 1TB / 2TB storage capacities and offers AES 256-bit hardware encryption.
Samsung Portable SSD X5 photo 1To use Thunderbolt 3, it requires Macs and Windows PC’s with Thunderbolt 3 ports (Not backward compatible / Not compatible with PCs only with USB interface). The device should be running on MacOS Sierra 10.2 or higher or Windows 10 64-bit RS 2 or higher.
The Samsung Portable SSD X5 price (MSRP) starts at $399.99 (Rs. 28,220 approx.) for 500GB Model, $699.99 (Rs. 49,390 approx.) for 1TB model and $1399.99 (Rs. 98,750 approx.) for premium 2TB variant. The SSD will roll out globally from September 3rd.
