Samsung SSD T7 and T7 Touch with up to 2TB capacity unveiled

Samsung Electronics has announced its new external storage device which is a Portable Solid State Drive (SSD) called SSD T7 and SSD T7 Touch. Both of them are essentially the same with from having only a Password Protection S/W while the later comes with with both Password Protection S/W and Fingerprint recognition.

The Samsung SSD T7 series measures 85 x 57 x 8.0 mm and weighs about 58 grams. They come in 500GB / 1TB / 2TB capacity which is packed inside a sleek compact design.

It offers fastest transfer speeds currently available based on the USB 3.2 Gen 2 standards. The SSD read speed goes up to 1050 MB/s while its write speed is about 1000MB/s. Statistically, it is twice as fast as its predecessor, the SSD T5 and 9.5X faster than usual external HDDs.

The Samsung SSD T7 is the first SSD from the company to come with a built-in fingerprint scanner. Not to mention its password protection and AES 256-bit hardware encryption.

It has ‘Motion LED’ which allows one to determine status of the device in a glance. The SSD comes with a USB Type-C-to-C cable and a USB Type-C-to-A cable and is compatible with Windows, Mack and Android OS.

It has Samsung Portable SSD Software 1.05 bundled inside. The Samsung SSD T7 series also sports RoHS2 compliance and certifications like CE, MSMI, KC, VCCI, C-tick, FCC, IC, UL, TUV and CB.

The Samsung portable SSD T7 Touch price is US$ 129.99 (Rs. 11,999) (MSRP) for 500GB, US$ 229.99 (Rs. 18,999) for 1TB and US$ 399.99 (Rs. 36,999) for 2TB variant. It comes in Black and Silver colors and includes 3 years limited warranty. It will go on sale in over 30 countries globally in January itself. You can get it India in February 2020 via online, offline and retail channels. The Portable SSD T7 will come in Q2 2020.
