Space Systems Loral (SSL) to provide high power communications satellite to Intelsat

Space Systems Loral (SSL) has announced that it was selected to provide high power communications satellite for Intelsat. Its latest Intelsat 902 satellite will replace the IntelSat 902 satellite, that was also build by SSL and launched back in 2007.
The IntelSat 39 will have Ku-Band C-Band transponders and will be located at 62-degree East longitude position. It is based on powerful SSL 1300 platform supports range of applications, technology advances and electric propulsion.
It makes use of both chemical and electric propulsion for orbit raising and will be operated with all-electric propulsion on orbit. This new satellite will offer data networking and video distribution services in Africa, Euro, Middle East and Asia.
