VIVO has finally unveiled its latest concept smartphone called APEX 2020. It is successor to last years APEX 2019 and packs in some impressive features. Sadly, the handset is unlikely to be available publicly.
The mobile has dimensions of 157.25 x 66.2 x 8.8 mm and weighs 169 grams. It boots on Android 10 out of the box. There are no physical buttons in APEX 2020. You do get a pressure-sensing power button while the volume is adjustable via pop-up menu.
The VIVO APEX 2020 features in 6.45-inch 120° FullView Edgeless display with 2330 x 1080 pixels resolution. Meaning that there are no side bezels. The display bends at 120° angle around the sides and houses 3rd generation SoundCasting Technology.
If you are wondering about front camera, it has an in-display 16MP front camera which is hidden and only appears when need. It has a 4-in-1 super-pixel photosensitive chip and algorithm optimizes the photos to ensure quality selfies. VIVO claims that light transmittance of the screen above the front camera has been increased by 6 times.
At the back side is a dual camera setup. It has 48MP primary rear shooter with Gimbal-like structure which offers Optical stabilization in all directions. Company says that the stabilization is 200% better than the OIS seen in other phones. Its 16MP secondary rear camera offers 5x to 7.5x continuous optical zoom. It has 4-group lens combination with two fixed groups and two movable groups to achieve high magnification continuous zoom and real-time focus. To further enhance image quality, these shooters use leading multi-frame algorithm paired with 6.2mm thick periscope structure.
The VIVO APEX 2020 specs include Octa-Core Snapdragon 865 mobile platform with Adreno 650 GPU. It has 12GB RAM and 256GB ROM which is non expandable. While we don’t know the exact battery capacity, VIVO did confirm support for 60W Wireless Super FlashCharge. Statistically, it can charge 2000mAh battery in 20 minutes.
The handset does support 5G SA/NSA bands, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Dual Band (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth V5.1 and GPS/GLONASS.
The VIVO APEX 2020 colors include White and Black shades. Currently, the mobile is just a concept however, we should see similar features in VIVO’s next generation flagships.
