Chinese phone maker Xiaomi has finally put an end to rumors and launched its Mi Max smartphone. Company unveiled the phone at a dedicated event in China.
It has full metal uni-body design with dimensions of 173.1 x 88.3 x 7.5 mm and weighs 203 grams. It has Hybrid Dual SIM slots (Micro SIM + Nano SIM / MicroSD) of which second slot can be doubled for MicroSD card for further storage expansion. There is a Fingerprint sensor embedded on the back side.
The Xiaomi Mi Max specs are 6.4-Inch IPS display with 2.5D curved glass. It has 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 72% NTSC color gamut and supports multi-touch as well.
This is an Android Phone that runs on 6.0 Marshmallow OS based MIUI 8 ROM that further enhances the operating system. The mobile gets processing power from Hexa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 / Octa Core Qualcomm snapdragon 652 processor. It has Adreno 510 GPU as well for graphic performance.
The phone comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB / 64GB storage ROM and 4GB RAM with 128GB on-board storage space. MicroSD card via Hybrid SIM Slot is also supported for further storage expansion.
The Mi Max features a 16MP main camera at the back with F/2.0 Aperture, dual-tone LED flash and supports Phased Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) as well. On the front is 5MP selfie camera with F/2.0 Aperture and 85-degree wide angle lens.
This phablet phone from Xiaomi is equipped with huge 4850 mAh (typical) / 4760 (minimum) battery that will easily last for atleast a day’s worth of usage. It also has Infrared sensor.
Connectivity options include 4G LTE with VoLTE, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Dual Band (2.4/5GHz) MIMO, Bluetooth V4.2, GPS / GLONASS, 3.5mm Audio Jack etc.
The Xiaomi Mi Max 3GB RAM / 32GB Storage / Snapdragon 650 SoC model is priced at 1499 Yuan (US$ 230) while the 3GB RAM / 64GB Storage / Snapdragon 650 SoC variant is priced slightly higher at 1699 Yuan (US$ 260). The premium Mi Max with 4GB RAM / 128GB Storage / Snapdragon 650 SoC has price-tag of 1999 Yuan (US$ 306).
Xiaomi Mi Max release date for global markets is still sketchy at the moment however, we do know that the phone will be up for order in China from today itself and will start shipping from May 17, 2016. It comes in Gold, Silver and Light Grey colour options.
