Xiaomi has just announced its latest smartphone called Mi Mix 2. It was unveiled at a dedicated event in China along with Mi Notebook Pro.
There is a rear mounted fingerprint sensor. It has a bezel-less design with very slim bezel at the bottom. This is due to Camera Module, Screen Drive Chip and Antenna Clear Area. It has a hidden sound guided speaker & ultrasonic proximity sensor.
The sound guided speaker design consists of sound hole, sound guiding tube and membrane speaker. Interestingly, it has 60mW high power speaker that will ensure optimum audio output. The Mi Mix 2 features an Ultra Slim aluminum frame, boasting a four-sided curved ceramic body. It has super black lens coating on the front camera while it’s rear decorative camera rim is 18K gold-plated. The handset also supports Global 4G Bands (6 modes / 43 bands total) to ensure that you are always connected. It has 5.99-inch AMOLED screen with 2160 x 1080 pixels resolution. It has 403ppi pixel density and supports multi-touch. The 18:9 aspect ratio has resulted in increased display area, going it at 12.5%. Xiaomi is calling the it a full screen 2.0 behind the black technology. It is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor with Adreno 540 GPU. It has 6GB RAM and comes in 64GB / 128GB / 256GB storage options. there is a Mi MIX 2 Special Edition with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage as well. (comes in White and Black colors). The Mi Mix 2 specs include a 12MP rear shooter with dual-tone LED Flash, Sony IMX386 Sensor with 1.25 micron large pixel, 5P Lens, F/2.0 Aperture, PDAF and supports 4-axis Optical Image stabilization as well. 4K video recording is also supported. There is a 5MP selfie camera on the front as well. Front shooter has facial recognition and supports 1080p video recording as well.
The Mi MIX 2 standard model measures 151.8 x 75.7 x 7.7 mm and weighs 185 grams. The Special Edition has dimensions of 150.5 x 74.6 x 7.7 mm and weighs 187 grams. It has 3400 mAh (typical) / 3300 mAh (minimum) battery and supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging as well. The handset runs on Android 7.1 Nougat with MIUI 9 on top.
Connectivity wise, it supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Dual-Band (2×2 MU-MIMO) Bluetooth V5.0, GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS/Beidou USB Type-C, NFC etc. The Mi Mix 2 price starts at 3299 Yuan (US$ 505 approx.) for 64GB ROM, 3599 Yuan (US$ 552 approx.) for 128GB storage and and 3999 Yuan (US$ 614 approx.) for 256GB internal memory variant. There is a Mi Mix 2 Special Edition with ceramic body that costs 4699 Yuan (US$ 721 approx.). It has 8GB RAM / 128GB internal memory.
