Xiaomi Redmi S2 with 5.99-inch HD+ display, Snapdragon 625, Dual rear shooters announced

Xiaomi has announced its latest selfie smartphone in China called Redmi S2. This newest Redmi Series phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9 on top.
The smartphone features in dedicated dual SIM slots and MicroSD card slot. The device measures 160.73 x 77.26 x 8.1 mm and weighs 170 grams. It is powered by 3080 mAh (typical) / 3000 mAh (minimum) battery.
The Xiaomi Redmi S2 specs include 5.99-inch 2.5D curved glass display with 1440 x 720 pixels HD+ resolution. The screen delivers 18:9 aspect ratio, 450 nits brightness, 70.8% NTSC color gamut and 1000:1 contrast ratio.
It is powered by 2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 Mobile Platform with Adreno 506 GPU. It comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB internal memory. Both the variants allow further expansion up to 256GB using MicroSD card.
The Redmi S2 features in 16MP front facing camera with LED flash. It has AI Beauty and makes use of pixel binning technology which combines information from four surrounding pixels to create one large 2.0µm pixel.
At the back side is 12MP primary rear camera with LED Flash, F/2.2 Aperture and 1.25µm pixel size. There is a secondary 5MP rear shooter to capture depth information for AI portrait shots.
The phone also houses fingerprint sensor (rear) and Infrared sensor. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth V4.2 and GPS/GLONASS.
The Xiaomi Redmi S2 price starts at 999 Yuan (US$ 155 / Rs. 10,550 approx.) for 3GB/32GB variant and goes up to 1299 Yuan (US$ 205 / Rs. 13,740 approx.) for 4GB/64GB model. The handset comes in Platinum Silver, Rose Gold and Champagne Gold colors.
