Xiaomi Redmi S2 with HD+ display, SD625, dual cameras in works

It looks like Chinese company Xiaomi is working on a new handset which will be called as Redmi S2. The handset has surfaced thanks to the info dug up by @FunkyHuawei in Firmware files.
The information of Xiaomi Redmi S2 is still incomplete though. The mobile is believed to be an entry-level device and will initially launch in India and China.
According to the info decrypted from the Firmware, the handset will have an LCD display with 1440 x 720 pixels HD+ resolution, 18:9 aspect ratio and should support multi-touch. There is no mention of screen size though.
Moving ahead, the smartphone will be powered by octa-core Snapdragon 625 (MSM8953) processor coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. It will have 16GB of internal storage space and should allow further expansion using MicroSD card.
The Redmi S2 will run on Android 8.1 Oreo OS with MIUI 9 on top. Also expect a 3080 mAh battery.
If the source is to believed, the handset sports 12MP (Sony IMX486 OR OmniVision OV12A10) + 5MP (Samsung S5K5E8) dual rear cameras . It is also said to support EIS and come with Portrait mode. At the front will be a 5MP snapper with Samsung S5K5EB sensor and support Face Unlock as well.
Also expect usual connectivity options like 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth and GPS.
The specifications of Redmi S2 which were not revealed should be out once the handset makes way at TENAA. We will be covering it so stay tuned.
