ZTE expands its AXON Series lineup with two new smartphones – the AXON 40 Pro and AXON 40 Ultra. Both of these are already up for order in China and will start rolling out from May 13th.
ZTE AXON 40 Pro specifications
This particular smartphone comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor. It has dual Nano SIM slots and houses stereo speakers.
The smartphone has dimensions of 162.9 x 72.9 x 8.46 mm and weighs just about 199 grams. It is powered by Android 12 based MyOS 12 out of the box.
The ZTE AXON 40 Pro comes with 6.7-inch OLED display that gives about 2400 x 1080 pixels resolution, 20: 9 aspect ratio, 144Hz refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3 colors and up to 1000nits brightness.
At its center is an octa-core Snapdragon 870 mobile platform with Adreno 650 GPU. It has 8GB/12GB LPDDR5 RAM with 256GB UFS 3.1 storage space. The top-end variant has 12GB LPDDR5 RAM with 512GB UFS 3.1 storage space.
The AXON 40 Pro houses a 5000mAh battery and supports 66W fast charging. The cell phone packs a 16MP front camera while the back side houses 108MP (main, F/1.89) + 8MP (120-degree ultra-wide) + 2MP (4cm macro, F/2.4) + 2MP (depth, F/2.4) quad-rear cameras with LED Flash.
Connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11ax, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Dual Band (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth V5.1, USB Type-C, NFC, GPS/GLONASS/Beidou and Type-C audio are supported.

ZTE AXON 40 Ultra specifications
This particular model measures 163.28 x 73.56 x 8.41 mm and weighs 204 grams. It has dual Nano SIM slots with support for 5G (SA/NSA) and dual 4G VoLTE.
The AXON 40 Ultra boast a 6.8-inch 71° curved AMOLED BOE display that gives 2480 x 1080 pixels resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling rate, 1440Hz PWM dimming, 10bit colors, 100% DCI-P3 colors and up to 1500nits brightness. The screen has received TUV Rheinland low blue light eye protection certification.
The mobile comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor for biometrics. It has stereo speakers for audio however, there is support for USB Type-C audio only.
Powering inside is an octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Mobile Platform with Adreno Next-gen GPU. The AXON 40 Ultra is offered with 8GB / 12GB / 16GB LPDDR5 RAM options and 256GB / 512GB / 1TB UFS 3.1 storage variants. There is a dual VC liquid cooling system for thermals.
The cell phone houses a 5000mAh (typical) battery and supports 80W fast charging. It brings support for 5G (SA/NSA), Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6E 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, Wi-Fi Hotspot, (2.4GHz/5GHz/6GHz), dual band GPS/GLONASS/Beidou, USB Type-C, Bluetooth V5.2 and NFC.
The ZTE AXON 4 Ultra features in 16MP under-screen front camera. It has full-screen blue diamond arrangement, independent pixel driver, distributed transparent circuit along with an UDC Pro screen display chip, equivalent 2.24 μm large pixel and a high pixel density of 400 PPI.
At the back side house quad-rear cameras. These include 64MP (main, Sony IMX787, F/1.6, OIS) + 64MP (Ultra-wide, Sony IMX787) + 64MP (Periscope telephoto, OV64b Sensor, 5.7x optical) + ToF sensor. All of them support 8K video recording.
