Cupertino tech giant Apple has unveiled its new Watch Series 6 smartwatch at its online event. It is successor to last years Apple Watch Series 5.
The Apple Watch Series 6 brings several hardware and feature enhancements. It has a faster S6 System-in-Package (SiP0 and next-gen always-on altimeter. It runs on WatchOS 7.0 which include features like Family Setup, Sleep tracking, Automatic hand-washing detection, new workout types, ability to curate and share watch faces, Sedentary remainders and munch more.
The Apple Watch Series 6 features in Blood Oxygen Sensor and App. Its new feature that conveniently measure the oxygen saturation of users blood. Its Blood Oxygen sensor users four clusters of green, red and infrared LEDs, along with four photodiodes on back crystal of Apple Watch to measure light reflected back from Blood. This new Apple Smartwatch users advanced custom algorithm built into Blood Oxygen app which measures Blood oxygen between 70% to 100%. All the data will be visible in Health app and can be compared over period of time.
The Apple Watch Series 6 features in new dual-core processor based on A13 bionic chip which is present in iPhone 11. Its new S6 SiP is 20% faster, resulting in faster app launches. The wearable also maintains up to 18-hours of battery life and fully charges in about 1.5 hours. Moreover, it also includes U1 chip and Ultra Wideband antennas which enables short-range wireless location. This feature is useful for next-generation digital car keys.
The Apple Watch Series 6 sports an Always-On Retina display which is 2.5 times brighter than its predecessor. When the wrist is down, users can access Notification Center and Control Center, tap of complications and swipe to change faces without having to wake the watch screen.
It has an always-on Altimeter which is a more power-efficient barometric altimeter. It even detects small elevation changes about ground level, up and down to the measurement of 1 foot.
The Apple Watch Series 6 is offered in new cases and bands. It comes in new Blue, Silver, Space Gray and Gold Aluminum cases. There is a new (PRODUCT)RED Apple Watch with red band. Its Stainless Stell models will be available in Graphite — a rich gray-black hue with a striking high-shine finish — and an updated classic yellow gold color. Apple Watch Edition is available in natural and space black titanium.
The smartwatch comes with new Solo Loop which is a continuous stretchable band design which comes in two materials – Soft Silicone and Braided Yarn. The ensure best fit, a new sizing system which offers nine available lengths of Solo Loop styles. The Apple Watch Nike comes with Nike Sport Band and Nike Sport Loop. The Apple Watch Hermès offers stainless steel cases in silver or space black paired with Single or Double Tour styles in an assortment of vibrant new colors.
