Apple has just announced its latest smartwatch called Watch Series 5. It comes with international emergency calling which allows wearer to call emergency services directly from Apple Watch Series 5 in over more than 150 countries (even when iPhone is not near by).
The Apple Watch Series 5 comes in range of materials including Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Ceramic and All-New Titanium. It runs on WatchOS 6 which has several health and fitness features along with Cycle Tracking, Noise App and Activity Trends. There are new dynamic watch faces as well (including Meridian, Modular Compact and Solar Dial).
The Cycle Tracking App logs information on menstrual cycles and predict timing for next period and fertile window. The Noise App helps user understand ambient sound levels in environment while Activity Trends provide long term view of their activity patterns and help understand progress.
The Apple Watch Series 5 features in new Always-On Retina display, which is an innovative display that allows time and other relevant information to remain visible all time. Each watch face has been carefully optimized for the new display to preserve battery life. It screen automatically dims when the user wrist is down and returns to full brightness raised or tapped. It is industry’s only low-temperature poly-silicone and oxide display (LTPO) with ultra-low power display driver with efficient power management integrated circuit and new ambient light sensor.
The Combination of hardware and software offers about 18 hours of battery life. The Apple watch Series 5 has built-in compass and updated maps for navigation. Its new compass app allows one to see heading, incline, latitude, longitude and current elevation.
Apple Watch Series 5 (GPS) price starts at US$399 and Apple Watch Series 5 (GPS + Cellular) price starts at US$499. The popular Series 3 (GPS), with built-in GPS, optical heart rate sensor and water resistance, starts at a new low price of $199 and Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) is $299.
