Honor Band 5 with SpO2 sensor, 0.95-inch AMOLED display announced

Huawei’s Honor brand has announced its latest Honor Band 5 smartband in China. It was introduced along side Honor 9X / 9X Pro smartphones MagicBook Pro Laptop.

The Honor Band 5 is successor to last years Honor Band 4. It comes with 5ATM rating, making it dust resistant and water resistant up to 50 meters.

The smart band has dimensions of 43 x 13.2 x 11.5 mm and has weight of 22.7 grams. It comes with Bluetooth V4.2 and is compatible with devices running on Android 4.4 or iOS 9.0 and later.

The Honor Band 5 features in 0.95-inch AMOLED color touch display with 240 x 120 pixels resolution. It shows call and message notifications and allows one to easily mute or take calls (when connected with smartphones).

It has PPG heart rate sensor for continuous heart beat tracking. It also includes TruSleep 3.5 which uses cardiopulmonary coupled dynamics spectrum (CPC) to monitor sleep (include deep sleep / REM) and give personalized sleep recommendations.

Additionally, it has Pedometer, Exercise tracker and SpO2 sensor for estimating blood oxygen levels. The Honor Band 5 specs also include 6-axis sensor, infrared wearing detection sensor and optional NFC.

The smartband is powered by 100mAh battery which offers about 14 days of usage or 20 days of standby.

The Honor Band 5 price is 189 yuan (US$ 27 / Rs. 1890 approx.) and comes in Midnight Blue, Meteorite Black and Pink colors. The Band 5 NFC variant costs 219 Yuan (US$ 31 / Rs. 2200 approx.). It is already up for order in China and will start selling from July 29th.
