MediaTek has officially introduced two new chipsets for smartphones called called Dimensity 920 and Dimensity 810. These are successor to Dimensity 900 and Dimensity 800 SoC’s.
Both MediaTek Dimensity 920 and Dimensity 810 SoC will power 5G smartphones in Q3 2021.
MediaTek Dimensity 920
This chipset is made using TSMC’s 6nm process technology. It has total of octa-cores (2.5GHz Cortex-A78 x 2 + 2GHz Cortex-A55 x 6) CPU’s which is paired with Mali-G68 MC4 GPU for graphics. The SoC offers 9% gaming performance boost over its predecessor.
The Dimensity 920 supports LPDDR4X / LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 2.1 / UFS 2.2 / UFS 3.1 storage. It is capable of handling displays with 2520 x 1080 pixels (FHD+) resolution at 21:9 aspect ratio and 120Hz refresh rate.
For optics, it supports 108MP, 20MP + 20MP cameras and boasts features like Warping Engine, Depth Hardware Depth Engine, Hardware video HDR, 3X HDR-ISP, MFNR, AINR and 3DNR. It can play / encode H.264, H.265 / HEVC, VP-9, AV1 / H.264, H.265 / HEVC videos.
The chipset also offers True Dual 5G SIM (5G SA + 5G SA) modes. There is 2G / 3G / 4G / 5G Multi-Mode, 4G Carrier Aggregation (CA), 5G Carrier Aggregation (CA), EDGE, 4G FDD / TDD, 5G FDD / TDD, GSM, TD-SCDMA, WDCDMA. Other specific features include SA & NSA modes; SA Option2, NSA Option3 / 3a / 3x, NR TDD Band, NR FDD Band, DSS, NR DL 2CC, 120 MHz bandwidth, 256QAM NR UL 2CC, 256QAM VoNR / EPS fallback.
The Dimensity 920 also supports Wi-Fi 6 (a/b/g/n/ac/ax), Bluetooth V5.2, and GPS L1CA+L5 / BeiDou B1I+ B2a / Glonass L1OF / Galileo E1 + E5a / QZSS L1CA+ L5 / NavIC positioning.
MediaTek Dimensity 810
The Dimensity 810 SoC is based on 6nm TSMC processor and features 2.4GHz Cortex-A76 x 2 + 2GHz Cortex-A55 x 6 (octa-core) CPU’s. It has ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU for graphics.
The chipset supports 2520 x 1080 pixels FHD+ resolution at 21:9 aspect ratio and allows up to 120Hz refresh rate. It allows 16MP+16MP, 64MP, Hardware video HDR, 2X HDR-ISP, MFNR, 3DNR, AINR, AI-Color, AI-Bokeh, Hardware Depth Engine, Warping Engine.
It can video encode / decode 4K 60fps, H.264/265/VP9 / 4K 30fps, H.264/265. For connectivity, it has 2G / 3G / 4G / 5G Multi-Mode, 4G Carrier Aggregation (CA), 5G Carrier Aggregation (CA), EDGE, 4G FDD / TDD, 5G FDD / TDD, GSM, TD-SCDMA, WDCDMA, Dual-Band Wi-Fi 5 (a/b/g/n/ac), Bluetooth 5.1, GPS L1CA+L5 / BeiDou B1I+ B2a / Glonass L1OF / Galileo E1 + E5a / QZSS L1CA+ L5 / NavIC.
