Sony PlayStation 5 officially announced

Sony has officially unveiled its latest PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition gaming consoles. The announcement took place at an online event, where company introduced console design and its key features.

Notably, Sony PlayStation 5 is equipped with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive while the Sony PlayStation 5 Digital Edition comes without a disc drive. Other design aspects and features are more or less the same.

Coming to the Sony PS5 hardware, this new gaming console comes with eight core (16 threads) AMD Ryzen Zen2 based PU with variable frequency and houses RDNA2 based Radeon GPU. It has 16GB GDDR6 RAM and 825GB nVMe SSD. It has Tempest audio engine for enhanced sound effects.

Along with Sony PS5, company also unveiled its latest DualSense wireless controller for PS5. It comes with dynamic adaptive triggers and offers immersive haptic feedback. Moreover, It has built-in microphone with integrated speaker which seamlessly fits into controllers design. Not to mention its USB port and motion sensor.

Sony PlayStation 5 also gets several other accessories which includes PULSE 3D wireless headset (3D Audio, Dual Noise canceling mics), and 720p HD camera (dual 1080p lens) and media remote (built-in mic).

Sony PlayStation 5 / PlayStation 5 Digital Edition price list was not revealed at the event, however a listing at Amazon UK hint a price-tag of £599.99 ($760/€670). It will be available around December 2020 during holidays. Pricing details will be officially announced as the launch date nears.
