Apple has just launched its latest iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus at a special event held at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, San Francisco.
Both the smartphones have an aluminum body on form sheet of glass. Moreover, they IP67 certified for water resistance. The iPhone 7 measures 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1 mm and weighs about 138 grams. The 7 Plus on the other hand has dimensions of 158.2 x 77.9 x 7.3 mm and weighs 188 grams. Its home button has been re-engineered to force sensitive touch. Its Quick Action gives tactic feedback’s for messages, notifications, ringtones etc. Moreover, it has Touch ID fingerprint sensor embedded on home button and obviously supports Apple Pay.
The iPhone 7 packs in 4.7-Inch LED-backlit IPS Retina display with 1334 x 750 pixels resolution, 326ppi pixel density and 1400:1 typical contrast ratio. The iPhone 7 Plus features a bigger 5.5-Inch LED-backlit IPS Retina display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, 401ppi pixel density and 1300:1 contrast ratio. The screen is 25% brighter than its predecessor and features wider color gamut. The screen has 3D touch layer (feature widely optimized in iOS 10) and delivers cinema standard colors. The display can produces 625 cd/m2 max brightness, allows display zoom and comes with Dual-domain pixels for wide viewing angles.
Both the phones are powered by Apple A10 Fusion processors. They consist of four 64-bit cores of which two cores are high performing cores while other two are high efficiency cores. The processor is said to be 40% faster than A9 SoC. It also comes with embedded M10 Motion coprocessor consisting of six GPU cores. It is 50% powerful than A9 GPU’s and 240 times powerful than the first iPhone.
The iPhone 7 specs include 12MP main camera with F/1.8 aperture and offers up to 5x digital zoom. The iPhone 7 Plus on the hand has a dual camera setup at the back, consisting of 12MP wide angle camera (F/1.8 aperture) + telephoto camera (F/2.8 Aperture). Their combination allows up to 2x optical zoom and 10x digital zooming. Common camera features in both the phones include optical image stabilization, sex-element lens, Panorama up to 63MP, Sapphire crystal lens cover, Backside illumination sensor, Hybrid IR filter, Auto Focus with Focus Pixels, Live Photos with stabilization, Wide color capture, Improved local tone mapping, Body and face detection, exposure control, Auto HDR, Auto image stabilization etc. The rear camera in both the phones can record 4K videos at 30fps, 1080p at 30/60 fps and comes with Quad-LED flash for low light conditions.
Both the iPhones have 7MP selfie snapper with Retina flash, F/2.2 aperture and records 1080p videos. It also has Backside illumination sensor, Auto Image stabilization and burst mode.
The Apple iPhone 7 battery is said to offer 2 hours longer battery life than 6S. It is said to last up to 14 hours of 3G talking and allows 40 hours of audio. The iPhone 7 Plus on the other hand offers an hour more of usage time. It gives about 2 hours of 3G talk time, 16 days of standby, 14 hours wireless video playback and 60 hours of wireless audio. Both of them have Lihium-ion rechargeable batteries.
Both of these latest Apple phones have Nano SIM slot and supports most of 4G LTE bands. They come in 32GB, 128GB and 256GB storage options. Apple has courageously excluding the 3.5mm Audio jack for these phones. The EarPods can be connected using lightning connector (includes convertor for 3.5mm audio jack in the box). The sound is louder as they are equipped with stereo speakers (top and bottom). 4G VoLTE (most bands), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi with MIMO, Bluetooth V4.2 wireless technology, NFC, Wi-Fi Calling, GPS / GLONASS, Digital Compass etch are also supported.
The Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus comes in Jet black, Black, Gold, Silver and Rose Gold colors. The iPhone 7 price starts at US$ 649 for 32GB, US$ 749 for 128GB and US$ 849 for 256GB variants. The Apple iPhone 7 Plus price starts at US$ 769 for 32GB, US$ 869 for 128GB and US$ 969 for 256GB storage variants. Pre-orders for the begin from September 9, 2016 and will start shipping from September 16th.
