BlackBerry has announced its latest Android Phone called the DTEK50. Company claims it to be world’s most secure smartphone and is FIPS 140-2 compliant.
It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS and provides users with visibility and control over applications. Users can set permissions for apps to access data, features or microphone.
It also has malware protection with backup wipe and restore capabilities.The phone has a Secure Boot process as well that verifies the next component is fully intact before proceeding, ensuring further security.
Its DTEK by BlackBerry app allows users to monitor their OS and applications in terms of privacy risks.
The Blackberry DTEK50 specifications are similar to that of Alcatel Idol 4. The phone supports 4G LTE and sports a 5.2-inch scratch-resistant display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution.
Under the hood is (1.5GHz x 4 + 1.2GHz x 4) Octa-Core Snapdragon 617 processor with Adreno 405 GPU (550MHz). It has 3GB RAM, 16GB storage ROM and supports MicroSD card up to 2TB.
The phone has dimensions of 147 x 72.5 x 7.4 mm, weighs 135 grams and fits 2610 mAh battery inside with fast charging.
It has 8MP selfie camera on the front with LED Flash, F/2.2 aperture and is equipped with 84-degree wide angle lens. On the back is 13MP main camera with F/2.2 aperture, 6P lens, dual-tone LED Flash and supports PDAF.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Dual Band (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth V4.2, GPS, NFC, FM radio, 3.5mm Audio Jack etc.
The BlackBerry DTEK50 is up for pre-order from ShopBlackBerry.com in US (US$ 299), Canada (CDN $429), UK (£275), France, Germany, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands. For a limited period (till August 8), users who pre-order BlackBerry DTEK50 will also get free BlackBerry Mobile Power Pack worth US$59.99.
