HTC today announced its new ‘U Series‘ of phones, consisting of flagship HTC U Ultra. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat OS with HTC Sense UI.
It has metal frame and glass finish on front and back. Edges on the back are full curved from all the four sides. The glass has multi-layered color which is achieved via a unique optical spectrum hybrid deposition process.
The smartphone has dimensions of 162.41 x 79.79 x 3.6 ~ 7.9 mm and weighs about 161 grams. It has hybrid dual SIM slots (nano + nano / microSD) and supports 4G LTE as well.
The phone features in HTC BoomSound audio and can even record ‘3D Audio’ using 4 microphones. It also houses HTC USonic as well. The device includes HTC Sense Companion software that learns about user and its habits and offers intelligent suggestions.
There is a secondary 2-Inch LCD 5 display with 160 x 1040 pixels resolution and 520ppi pixel density.
Under the hood is a quad-core (2.15GHz Kyro x 2 + 1.6GHz Kyro x 2) Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor with Adreno 530 GPU. It is backed by 4GB RAM and comes in 64GB / 128GB storage options. It also allows further expansion up to 2TB.
The HTC U Ultra features a 16MP front camera with UltraPixel Mode and F/2.0 Aperture. ON the back side is a 12MP UltraPixel 2 camera with dual-tone LED Flash, F/1.8 Aperture, 1.55micron pixels, Laser AF, OIS and 4K video recording capabilities.
The hardware inside this cellphone is powered by 3000mAh battery. It also supports Quick Charge 3.0. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Dual Band (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth V4.2, GPS/GLONASS, USB 3.1 Type-C etc.
The HTC U Ultra price start at US$ 750 and is up for pre-order at HTC.com. The 64GB variant is priced in Taiwan at NT $23,900 (US$ 753) while the 128GB Sapphire Glass model carries price-tag of NT $28,900 (US$ 911). The mobile comes in Brilliant Black, Ice White, Comestic Pink and Sapphire Blue color options. It will start shipping from March 2017.
