Land Rover and Bullitt Group has officially unveiled Land Rover Explore smartphone. It has swappable back covers for additional extensions.
It has an Adventure Pack which adds an additional 3600 mAh battery. It has also comes with GPS patch antenna, which acts a booster for GPS accuracy. The extension also doubles up as TPU Protective case and comes with Stainless Steel Carabiner with Canvas strip. It has Premium topographic mapping with ViewRanger powered Skyline augmented reality.
The Battery Pack adds 4370 mAh capacity. The Bike pack on the other hand adds a Bike Mount and and case for stem and handlebar. It has adjustable viewing angles.
The Land Rover Explore is IP68 rated which makes it splash / water / dust resistant. It is rugged enough to withstand drops from up to 1.8 meters just with factory fitted screen protector. In terms of dimensions, the cell phone measures 154.8 x 79.9 x 8.35 mm and weighs about 188 grams.
The handset comes with Dual SIM slots and supports 4G VoLTE (Cat 6 speeds). It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat OS and is upgradable to Android 8.0 Oreo in future. It has 5-inch Display which works with wet fingers or with gloves. The screen offers 1920 x 1080 pixels Full HD resolution and comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
Under the hood is 2.6GHz deca-core MediaTek Helio X27 Processor paired with Mali-T880MP4 GPU. It has 4GB RAM, 64GB internal memory and allows further expansion using MicroSD card. In the optics department, there is an 8MP selfie camera and 16MP auto focus shooter at the back with LED Flash.
The hardware is juiced up by a decent 4000 mAh battery. Moreover it also support battery pack for elongated usage. Connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Dual Band (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth V4.2, GPS + GLONASS are present as well.
The Land Rover Explore price goes at €649 / £599 and will go on sale in April 2018. The handset will be showcased at MWC 2018 event in Barcelona next week.
