Motorola unveils MOTO X40 5G flagship in China

Lenovo’s Motorola brand has officially unveiled its latest flagship smartphone in China called Moto X40. It comes in Tourmaline Blue and Smoky Black colors.

MOTO X40 specs and features

The device measures 161.3 x 73.9 x 8.5 mm and weighs 197.9 grams. It has dual Nano SIM slots and allows 5G SA/NSA and dual 4G VOLTE. It comes with IP68 water and dust resistant rating.

The Moto X40 5G uses aviation grade aluminum middle frame and Matt glass at back. It has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection for added durability. An in-display fingerprint sensor is present for fast and secure biometrics.

The Moto X40 specs include 6.67-inch OLED 10-bit Display that offers modest 2400 x 1080 pixels resolution, 165Hz refresh rate and DC Dimming. A Corning Gorilla Glass Victus is present at front as well.

Powering inside is an octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform with Adreno next-gen GPU. It has options of 8GB LPDDR5 RAM with 128GB / 256GB UFS 4.0 storage space. The top-end model of Moto X40 5G as 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB / 512GB UFS 4.0 storage options.

The cell phone houses 3Dl cooling system 2.0 with 24868.28 mm² cooling area and 3002 mm² VC cooling area. This helps keep thermals in check. The device runs on latest Android 13 with MyUI 5.0 on top.

The MOTO X40 boasts triple cameras at back with LED Flash. These include 50MP (main, 1/1.55-inch Sensor, OIS, AF) + 50MP (117-degree ultra-wide with 2.5cm macro option, AF) + 12MP (2x portrait telephoto, Sony IMX663) shooters. At the front side is a 60MP selfie shooter.

The X40 from Motorola feature a 4600mAh battery and allows 125W TurboPower fast charging, 15W wireless charging and 15W reverse charging. It is said to charge up to 50% in just 7 minutes using wired charging.

For connectivity, it has Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Dual Band (2.4/5GHz) MIMO, Bluetooth V5.3, USB Type-C, NFC and Type-Audio support. Notably, there are stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.

MOTO X40 price and availability

  • 8GB/128GB model: 3399 yuan (US$ 487 / Rs. 40,360 approx.)
  • 8GB/256GB model: 3699 yuan (US$ 530 / Rs. 43,950 approx.)
  • 12GB/256GB model: 999 yuan (US$ 573 / Rs. 47,500 approx.)
  • 12GB/512GB model: 4299 yuan (US$ 617 / Rs. 51,060 approx.)

The Moto X40 5G is up for order in China and will go on sale from December 22nd.
