Nothing has officially launched its first smartphone called Nothing Phone (1). It was introduced at its online event.

It is a dual SIM (nano) smartphone supporting 5G SA/NSA (Bands n1/n3/n5/n7/n8/n20/n28/n38/n40/n41/n77/n77) and dual 4G voLTE. The device measures 159.2 x 75.8 x 8.3 mm and weighs about 193.5 grams.
The Nothing Phone 1 made using 100% recycled aluminum frame which is not only light weight but robust. Additionally, more than 50% of smartphone’s plastic components are made with bio-based or post-consumer recycled materials.
The handset itself comes with IP53 splash resistant rating. It has transparent back with unique design consisting of more than 400 components. The handset sports Corning Gorilla Glass 5 at front and back for added durability.
One of the main USP of Nothing Phone One is its Glyph Interface. It has unique light pattern made up of 900 LEDs. It can be used to indicate caller, app notifications, charging status and much more. User can also pair each contact to ringtone and its unique Glyph pattern.
Specifications of Nothing Phone (1) include 6.55-inch OLED display that offers 2400 x 1080 pixels resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, HDR10+ support, 10-bit colors and 500nits (typical) / 1200nits (peak) brightness. It comes with an in-display optical fingerprint scanner for biometrics.
Under the hood is an octa-core Snapdragon 778G+ mobile platform with Adreno 642L GPU. It has 8GB LPDDR5 RAM with 128GB/256GB UFS 3.1 storage options. The top-end model of Nothing Phone (1) has 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage space.
The smartphone comes pre-installed with Android 12 based Nothing OS. Nothing has promised 3 Android OS updates and 4-years worth of security patches (delivered every 2 months). Further more, Nothing (1) can be used to control 3rd party products (including Tesla). It can be used to unlock doors, turn on AC, see miles left and much more.
In terms of cameras, Nothing Phone (1) feature in 16MP front camera with Sony IMX471 sensor and F/2.25 Aperture lens. At the back side is a combination of dual cameras and LED Flash. These include 50MP (main, Sony IMX766 sensor, F/1.88 Aperture, OIS) + 50MP (114-degree Ultra-wide, Samsung JN1 sensor, F/2.2 Aperture, 4cm macro) shooters. The rear cameras can record 4K videos at up to 30fps.
This particular cell phone houses a 4500mAh battery and supports 33W PD 3.0 wired fast charging (charger not included), 15W Qi wireless charging (with dual charging) and 5W reverse charging. The handset is claimed to go from 0 to 50% in just about 30 minutes.
The Nothing Phone (1) comes with stereo speakers and has Dolby Atmos support. It has Wi-Fi 6E 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Dual Band (2.4/5GHz) MIMO, Bluetooth V5.2, USB Type-C, NFC, GPS/GLONASS’/Beidou/Galileo and Type-C audio.
