OnePlus 6T launch event rescheduled to October 29th

The OnePlus 6T smartphone was originally slated to go official on October 30th. The date marked the launch of the latest OnePlus flagship in global markets, including India.

Today, OnePlus has rescheduled the 6T launch event to September 29th. The event will take place a day earlier at Pier 36, New York City and will start at 11:00AM EDT (8:30PM IST). For India, the event will be held at KDJW Stadium, Inside Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, New Delhi (same time).

The Oneplus 6T launch date was shifted as Apple has scheduled a launch event on October 30th. OnePlus has taken the decision after hours of talking with several press contacts and gaining insights into how Apple’s announcement could effect the launch of its 6T Flagship.

For those who own tickets to the event, but wont be able to make it on new date will get full refund of their tickets. If you are still able to join the event but need to pay to move your flight or hotels (or other arrangements), Oneplus has got your back.

Regarding the decision to change the date, OnePlus on its forum, said:

For hours, we talked to our press contacts to gain insight into how Apple’s announcement could affect the launch of the OnePlus 6T. We received considered, honest and thoughtful feedback. They showed us that if we chose to stick to our original timeline, launching the OnePlus 6T on October 30, we would be overshadowed by Apple.

As ambitious and passionate as we all are, we have to acknowledge the reality of this situation. There are no winners here. Over the course of almost 5 years, we have been proud to witness the rise of one of the most passionate and powerful communities in all of tech. But, we have to remain realistic. We have only just begun our journey and cannot afford to let one of the most important products in our history be affected by another great product launch. So after deep reflection, we have decided to move the OnePlus 6T Launch Event in New York City to October 29.
